Child Support Driver License Suspension Program

1. What is the Child Support Driver License Suspension Program?: It is a form of child support enforcement offered by the Clerk's Office. At the request of the recipient, the Domestic Relations Division may suspend the obligor's Florida driver license when child support payments become delinquent. The program is mandated by Section 61.13016, Florida Statutes.

2. What are the qualifications for the Program?: - You must have a Citrus County order for child support.
- You must not currently be under contract with the Florida Department of Revenue Child Support Enforcement Program.
- Your child support payments must be paid through the Depository.
- Your child support payments are 15 days delinquent per Florida Statute.
- The obligor must have a Florida driver license.

Upon a request from the payment recipient (obligee) a Notice of Intent to Suspend Driver's License is electronically sent to the obligor. Upon receiving the Notice, the obligor has 3 options to avoid a driver license suspension:

Pay the delinquency including the $25 processing fee.
Enter into a written notarized agreement for repayment of the delinquency with the obligee and file the agreement with the Clerk of Court and pay the $25 processing fee.
File a Motion to Contest Driver's License Suspension if there is a disagreement regarding the amount or if there is a claim of mistaken identity. For more information view and complete the Motion to Contest Driver's License Suspension (PDF).

If the obligor fails to select 1 of these options within 20 days from the date of the Notice, the Family Law Division will mail a request to suspend to the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles. Once suspended, the driver's license cannot be reinstated until either the delinquency is paid in full or until both parties enter into a written agreement for repayment of the delinquency.

4. How do I sign up for the Program?: File the affidavit of delinquency and request to suspend driver's license and motor vehicle registration with the Citrus County Clerk of Courts Office located in:
